PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently update control information concerning the connection of communication apparatus, with the constitution change of a network. SOLUTION: The control method comprises: controlling the connection relation of apparatus connected to an IEEE 1394 bus according to a GUID map which records connection information showing the connection relation of GUIDs, physical IDs and bus-connected apparatus related one to one; acquiring the physical IDs of apparatus connected to the bus and self ID packets including the connection condition of ports of these apparatus after a bus reset occurs; acquiring a GUID of a route node; collating the connection condition of the ports shown by the self ID packets with the connection information of the GUID map to decide whether the connection condition of the ports of each apparatus changes, starting from the route node, before/after the bus reset; and overwriting and updating the GUID map before bus reset for the varied information to generate a GUID map showing the connection information of the apparatus after bus reset.
