PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dampening water composition for a lithographic printing, by which the hydrophilic nature in the non-image region of a printing plate can be maintained, even when calcium ion gets mixed in which, no insoluble salt is formed by being reacted with each other, with which the precipitation of calcium salt on the image region of the printing plate or on the ink roller of a printing machine is prevented from developing and the developments of the lowering of inking properties and of a roller stripping phenomenon are suppressed, resulting in exhibiting favorable printability. SOLUTION: This dampening water composition for the lithographic printing includes at least one kind of cycloamylose compounds expressed by general formula (I), wherein n is an integer of 6-10.
