PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new water inlet for a paddy field, which prevents passage of floating waste and weeds, is openable and closable, adjusts a water flow rate and water depth of paddy field, has excellent durable strength to scouring, is relatively small-sized, lightweight, easily installed and removed at a water inlet of soil ridge and is economically excellent. SOLUTION: The water inlet for a paddy field comprises a base plate part 2 having a width size equal to or smaller than the width of a ridge R and a water collection body part 3 that has a cross sectional shape in a held state toward a field F, forms guiding plate parts 35 and 35 at both edges of the open part 4 of the base plate part and is vertically stood. A drainage hole 5 with a connection sleeve 51 is bored at a position near the under side of the water collection body part 3 and facing a side groove G side, and soil and stone loading space parts 6 and 6 are formed at the backs of the guiding plate parts 35 and 35. A horizontal blade part 7 is formed at a proper height position at the side groove part G side of the water collection body part 3.
