<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the occurrence of overshoot or undershoot of edge portion, while maintaining a dynamic range compression effect of a low-frequency component. <P>SOLUTION: A peripheral pixel selection processor is configured to generate peripheral pixel information by selecting a peripheral pixel to obtain a smooth pixel, using a filter size of a low-pass filter and a level difference from a pixel to be corrected. Also, a smooth image generator is configured to generate a smooth image by applying the low-pass filter to an input image, based on the above peripheral pixel information. Further, an output image generator is configured to generate an output image by composing the smooth image which is a low-frequency component of the input image, with a difference from the smooth image which is a high-frequency component of the input image. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT</p> |
