<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform proper data processing for separating a scoring sign and a comment, in an automatic teaching material scoring system. <P>SOLUTION: The scoring sign 87 and the comment 88 added to an additional information written teaching material 81, are separated based on various characteristics possessed by additional information such as a recording position, an image characteristic quantity or reliability in recognizing processing. In this case, further accurate separative recognition is performed not only by being based on a single characteristic possessed by the additional information but also by referring to a plurality of characteristics.
