PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a map display device capable of enhancing the visibility of the map display. SOLUTION: The map display device is provided with a map scrolling means performing scroll display of a map picture in accordance with a guide route leading to the destination at a certain drawing frequency. The map display device judges (S100-S106) whether or not there exists a serpentine guide route ahead of the traveling vehicle. When it is judged that there exists a serpentine guide route ahead of the traveling vehicle, the scroll display (S112) of the map picture is performed at a lower frequency than the usual drawing frequency.
