<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a content reproduction system for increasing the degree of freedom of a user interface when reproducing contents by a right holder. <P>SOLUTION: When a portable reproducing device 4 and a reproducing device 6 establish communication by short-range communication parts 56 and 72, the right status transmission means 48 of the portable reproducing device 4 transmits right status data based on right data recorded in a right recording part 50 to the reproducing device 6. The selection image generation means 65 of the reproducing device 6 generates a content selection screen on the basis of the received right status data. When a user operates the operation part of the portable reproducing device 4, selects the contents and instructs reproduction, the operation instruction acquisition means 66 of the reproducing device 6 receives the reproduction instruction.
