DRESS GEAR, AND MANUFACTURING METHOD AND APPARATUS THEREFOR

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology capable of truing large and highly rigid diamond abrasive grain with high accuracy in a short time, as well as a long-life dress gear, a manufacturing method and apparatus therefor.

SOLUTION: This dress gear performs, on the whole tooth face of a gear, the following operations: fixing highly rigid abrasive grain 3 on the tooth surface of the gear of a base metal 1 which is roughly the same shape as the gear; scanning laser beams 6 converged over the whole tooth surface 2b of the gear of the base metal 1 in a tooth trace direction 7 for truing the top end of the highly rigid abrasive grain 3; moving the laser beams in a tooth form direction 8 at constant pitches; scanning the laser beams 6 in the tooth trace direction 7; and truing the top end of the highly rigid abrasive grain 3.
