PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine capable of providing sufficient acceleration response at the time of re-acceleration after deceleration while providing sufficient deceleration feeling at the time of deceleration. SOLUTION: Target values of an intake valve are set to small action angles/early open and target opening of the throttle valve is set to full open in one cylinder group (step 104) in order to provide sufficient acceleration response at the time of re-acceleration after deceleration when deceleration demand to the internal combustion engine exists. Target values of the intake valve are set to large action angles and target opening of the throttle valve is set to full close in another cylinder group (step 106) in order to provide sufficient deceleration feeling at the time of deceleration.
