PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce consumption of plasma gas as much as possible by positioning the valve for controlling supply of a plasma gas in its supply route. SOLUTION: A plasma torch A is structured such that a valve 10 is installed in the plasma gas supply route 8 inside or near the plasma torch A and that the closing operation of the valve 10 is roughly synchronized with an electric current change at the stoppage of a plasma arc.
