A diesel fuel composition having a mixture of a major portion of a hydrocarbon-based compression ignition fuel; and a minor portion of an additive having a polyalkylene succinimide dispersant, the dispersant being the reaction product of at least one amine and at least one polyalkylene succinic anhydride of formula I, wherein R¹ is a polyalkenyl radical having a number average molecular weight ranging from about 600 to about 850.
