The hinge (2) has a hinge arm (6) connected with a door of a motor vehicle, and another hinge arm (4) connected with a body column of the motor vehicle. Fluid chambers are provided in the arm (4), and are limited by a piston (24). The piston is driven by rotation of the arm (6) in a direction that is parallel to a rotation axis (8), so as to determine the volume of the fluid chambers. The fluid chambers are limited by another piston (26), which is driven in the opposite direction to the piston (24).
