A drive mechanism for the side catches of a curved door or window has a pinion (7) fitted in the center of a drive housing and meshing with a curved rack which extends out of the housing at each side. The rack has a central section with a fixed curvature and with outer ends curved to match the curvature of the door/window. This allows the use of a standard drive mechanism for a range of curvatures. The ends of the rack are coupled to the catch mechanism by simple pegs.
