PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a grease composition excellent in flame retardancy and self-extinguishability. SOLUTION: The grease composition comprises a base oil 1-2,000 mm<SP>2</SP>/s in dynamic viscosity at 40°C containing 10 mass% or greater of a phosphorus-containing compound and, as thickening agent(s), at least one selected from metallic soap-based thickening agent, composite metallic soap-based thickening agent(e.g. composite lithium soap-based thickening agent), calcium sulfonate complex and polyurea.
