PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus which communicates with an external information processing apparatus to thereby acquire data required for processing, and to provide an image processing method and a program. SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus 10 communicates with an information processing apparatus 18 externally connected through a network 14 and uses a search result of the information processing apparatus 18 to display an address book to a user. The image processing apparatus 10 includes a user control means UCS 36 that creates intermediate data from the search result from the information processing apparatus 18 and displays the search result acquired from the information processing apparatus 18 as an address book. The image processing apparatus 10 further executes efficient image processing while performing data transmission with the externally connected information processing apparatus 18.
