PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preliminarily treating molten pig iron, which solves a problem that a mixture rate of the molten pig iron decreases and surplus heat becomes insufficient in the following decarburization smelting step in a converter, by efficiently compensating heat in a period of a desiliconization reaction. SOLUTION: In a preliminary treatment of the molten pig iron, which makes the molten pig iron cause the desiliconization reaction and a dephosphorization reaction while being held in a transportation container, this preliminary treatment method includes supplying solid oxygen into the molten pig iron, and supplying gaseous oxygen in the period of the desiliconization reaction, by spraying the gaseous oxygen onto the bath surface of the molten pig iron and simultaneously blowing the gaseous oxygen into the molten pig iron.
