PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophoretic display device which is usable in a wide temperature environment, especially at low temperature and highly stably drives migrating particles by satisfying both a first means of adding necessary and sufficient additive components to a suspension in order to suppress a phenomenon where the migrating particles are electrostatically charged to stick on a display surface internal wall side and a second means of reducing additive components in the suspension so as to be used in a wide temperature environment. SOLUTION: A substrate surface on the side to come in contact with the suspension containing migrating particles is processed into a shape consisting of at least two or more waveforms with long and short cycles one over another. Then such a material is selected that an equivalent value of an angle of contact between a migrating particle and the substrate surface, which is derived from surface energy of the migrating particle, the substrate, and a dispersion medium in which the migrating particles are suspended is >90°C.
