PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connector in which the end face of an optical fiber is easily cleaned. SOLUTION: The optical connector 1 is equipped with a connector plug 6 which has a plug housing 8, a fiber holding member 10 and a cable fixing member 9. The cable fixing member 9 fixed on the optical fiber cable 2 is slidable in the front and back direction of the plug housing 8 in the fixing member housing part 20 of the plug housing 8. Thus, when the cable fixing member 9 is slid towards the front direction, the optical fiber cable 2 is also moved in the same direction and the optical fiber 3 exposed from the optical fiber cable 2 projects ahead of the plug housing 8. Thus, the front end face of the optical fiber 3 is easily cleaned. After cleaned, the cable fixing member 9 is slid backwards, the optical fiber 3 is moved and the projected optical fiber 3 is drawn back into the plug housing 8. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
