PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inexpensive detector in a simple composition by detecting a high resolution turning angle concerning a turning angle detector used for turning angle detection or the like of a steering of an automobile. SOLUTION: The turning angle detector comprises: arranging to vertically overlapping first and second detection bodies 12 and 13 turned by interlocking with a rotating body 11; arranging a light emitting element 14 upward thereof and a ring-like light receiving element 16 downward respectively; inexpensively forming the detector by having the small number of composition components since the light emitting element 14 and the ring-like light receiving element 16 are completed one by one by detecting a turning angle of the turning body 11 by a control means 17 from a light receiving range of the ring-like light receiving element 16 by two shield parts 12C and 12D provided at an orthogonal position of the first detection body 12 and a shield part 13C provided at a position different from the first detection body 12 of the second detection body 13; and detecting the high resolution turning angle in the simple composition.
