PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scorch inhibitor which makes a scorch of the base material hard to produce by a user's application to a base material before or during use of the base material, and can easily remove the scorch adhering to the base material even when scorch is produced on the base material. SOLUTION: The scorch inhibitor containing a terpene-based compound and silicone oil is prepared and applied to a base material continuously exposed to high temperatures, whereby the scorch of the base material is made hard to produce before or during use of the base material, and the scorch adhering to the base material easy to remove even when scorch is produced on the base material.
