A method of manufacturing the elongated drills in which the first operation is production of the extension of the drill of required length from the diameter greater than the diameter of drill, the second operation is cutting drill shank, which must be lengthened with the remainder of its length, the third operation is the press-fitting of the end of the shank in the opening of the extension and circular welding on the flats of 45 DEGREE with appropriate cleaning and straightening if required, the fourth operation - grinding of drill with the extension along outside diameter with installation in the left grooved center from the side of the machine tool spindle, and right one - into the reverse cone of the tailstock ram with support by the work steady rest, which is rigidly connected to the main tool head; moreover, the axial motions of grinding wheel and work steady rest are interlocked and synchronously accomplish axial displacements of feeds.
