A privacy-friendly system for the tracking and control of mobile objects using RFID tags, which cannot be interrogated by unauthorised readers. A network of readers is deployed throughout the system for comprehensive coverage to allow for the tracking and authorised interrogation of all tagged objects. Discreet RFID tags do not respond to generic interrogations (fig. 1), but require specific interrogation requiring their unique identification code (fig.2), which might contain a randomly generated password. Software algorithms direct the network of readers to follow tagged objects as they move around and share identification information with other systems to detect when tagged objections enter or leave the system. The system may be used with tagged consumer goods to provide for automatic stock replenishment, location of misplaced products, streamlined distribution, improved product recalls, recycling, etc. without compromising consumer's privacy. |
