Device and method for self-regulating the charge of an electrochemical generator

The device has an interrupter (2) arranged between a terminal of a loader and a polarity of a block of nickel metal hydride electrochemical generators (1), where the block is connected to the loader such that the connection forms a circuit branch. A measurement unit has a resistor (3) to indirectly measure a current traversing the block. A controller (5) controls opening of the interrupter when the value of the current attains a set point value, and maintains the opening of the interrupter for a certain time period to interrupt charging of the block for the time period. An independent claim is also included for a method of controlling loading of an electrochemical generator.
