A signal converting circuit (2) comprises a differential amplifier part (10) and a source follower part (20). When differential voltage signals (INp, INn) are inputted to a first input terminal (5) and a second input terminal (6), respectively, the signal converting circuit (2) enters, in accordance with the levels of the differential voltage signals (INp,INn), one of an operative mode of using only the differential amplifier part (10), an operative mode of using both the differential amplifier part (10) and the source follower part (20) and an operative mode of using only the source follower part (20). The differential amplifier part (10) and source follower part (20) have a smaller number of elements than a circuit consisting of two differential amplifier circuits. Because of this, the circuit area can be reduced and the current consumption also can be reduced. Additionally, the source follower part (20) performs a non-inverting amplification of the differential voltage signals (INp,INn), whereby a high-rate operation can be achieved.
