Secure parameterisation of a security switching device

The method involves inputting settings of operating parameters e.g. monitoring time and monitoring rate, of a safety switching device (1). Predetermined parameter settings are displayed by a display (8) e.g. LED and LCD displays. The displayed operating parameter settings are released whether the displayed settings correspond to an input given by a user. The display is controlled by a control measure. The predetermined parameter settings are managed by the switching device. An independent claim is also included for a safety switching device for monitoring a safety device of a technical system.
