A rotary engine is provided to easily maintain a wear-resistive property and a sealing property by performing strokes due to a surface contact between a rotor and a housing. In a rotary engine, when a rotor(20) makes contact with plungers(40), air is sucked through a suction port(60) to one side of a plunger in an air chamber. Air compressed on the other side of the plunger is transferred to the combustion chamber through a transfer unit. A fuel is injected through a fuel injector(90) to one side of the plunger in the combustion chamber to generate an explosion through an ignition unit(80). Exhaust gas is discharged through an exhaust port(70) to the other side of the plunger.
