A cleansing composition containing medicinal herb extracts is provided to serve improved reactive oxygen species-removing effect, skin-whitening effect, hair root-improving effect and hair and scalp-protecting effect derived from the medicinal herb extracts in addition to cleansing effects to the hair, thereby preventing hair loss. A cleansing composition contains 0.1-20 wt.%, preferably 5 wt.% of medicinal herb extracts including 1-20 wt.% of Sophora flavescens Aiton, 1-10 wt.% of red pepper, 1-20 wt.% of Angelica gigas radix, 1-20 wt.% of Cynanchum wilfordii, 1-20 wt.% of Angelica dahurica radix, 1-20 wt.% of Psoralea corylifolia Linne, 1-20 wt.% of pine resin, 1-20 wt.% of Asarum sieboldii MIQ., 1-10 wt.% of Lithospermum erythrorhizon SIEB. and 1-10 wt.% of Thuja orientalis Linn, and is formulated as shampoo, rinse or soap.
