A spindle motor is provided precisely to control the rotation speed of a disc by maintaining the gap between an encoder and the disc in a pre-set value. A spindle motor includes a base(110), a main PCB(Printed Circuit Board)(120), a bearing housing(130), a rotation axis(140), a turntable(170), a stator(150), a rotor, a spacer(220), a sub PCB(230), a terminal(240), and an encoder(210). The main PCB(120) is placed at the upper surface of the base(110). The bearing housing(130) is installed in the base(110), and has a bearing(135) inside. The rotation axis(140) is supported in the bearing(135), and is rotatably installed. The turntable(170) is fixed on the rotation axis(140), and has a disc(50) mounted thereon. The stator(150) is fixed at the outer side of the bearing housing(130). The rotor rotates the turntable(170) by the interaction with the stator(150). The spacer(220) is made of synthetic resin, is installed on the main PCB(120) which corresponds to an identification mark(53) formed on the surface of the disc(50), and has a groove communicated with the outside at the bottom. The sub PCB(230) is installed at the upper surface of the spacer(220). The terminal(240) penetrates the sub PCB(230) and the spacer(220), has the upper side soldered on the sub PCB(230), and the lower side of lower height than the height of the groove, and is soldered on the main PCB(120). The encoder(210) is soldered at the upper surface of the sub PCB(230), is connected to the sub PCB(230), and detects the rotation speed of the disc(50) by detecting the identification mark(53) of the disc(50).
