摘要 1,042,983. Automatic exchange systems. WESTERN ELECTRIC CO. Inc. Aug. 15, 1963 [Aug. 22, 1962], No. 32262/63. Heading H4K. In an arrangement in which a PBX subscriber is able to obtain access to certain frequently wanted numbers by dialling an abbreviated code consisting of 3 digits only, these digits are sent over a data trunk to the central office where they are translated into the corresponding conventional number of 7 or more digits which is returned over the data trunk to the PBX and applied to a normal outgoing trunk to which the calling subscriber is then connected. As shown, the outgoing trunks are wired to level 9 of the first selectors, and, to make an outgoing call in the conventional manner, a calling subscriber dials the digit 9 and then awaits fresh dialling tone from the central office. It is assumed that levels 4 to 7 are available for abbreviated or condensed dialling, and each of the outlets from these levels is associated with one of the later choice outgoing trunks 106 . . . 109 by the interconnection of their sleeve terminals. In response to the digit 7, for example, an outlet such as C71 is selected, provided the associated ninth level trunk 108 is idle, and the succeeding two digits of the code set a bidirectional switch 201 of connector type, which controls column and row relays COL 1 . . . 10, ROW 1 . . . 10. There is one switch such as 201 for each of the trunks 106 . . . 109, and relay CON 7 energizes dependent on a preference lock-out circuit 204 to complete marking circuits TH, H, TN, U for a multi-frequency outpulser 112, TH, H being controlled by relay 7HN7 associated with the outlet C71 and TN, U by the column and row relays. Relay TR connects the outpulser 112 to the data trunk D100 while relay CBCO loops the associated trunk 108. At the central office the trunk L relay energizes and an incoming register is assigned. The data trunk D100 which is individual to the PBX is extended by way of a line circuit to a registersender 303, which returns battery and ground to operate relay S1 to start sending. When all the digits have been sent, relay R1K pulls up and releases TR. The data trunk D100 is now connected to the trunk 108 and relay TS in the register-sender 303 energizes to start outpulsing of the translated number, which takes place in multi-frequency form. Series relay M is operative, and falls back at the end of outpulsing when the loop current is reduced by the shunting of TS, thus connecting up relay D7 which switches the calling line through to the trunk 108 and releases the data trunk D100 for common use. The translator, Fig. 4 (not shown), comprises a number of cross-bar switches in which the TH and U digits jointly identify a vertical magnet, the TN digit identifies a horizontal select magnet while the H digit selects one of set of cross-points controlled by the magnets. One point in a code point field is thus marked, and a jumper connected thereto threads appropriate rings of a magnetic ring memory to determine the digits to be sent by the multi-frequency sender. If there are not more than 10 PBX's 50 abbreviated codes may be provided for a given PBX all ending in the same units digit.
