In a motor scooter having a front wheel 1 journalled on a stub axle 2 carried by a suspension arm 7, the inner cable 12 of a flexible speedometer drive passes through an axial bore in the stub axle 2 and is secured to a bearing cap 13 on the wheel hub. The inner cable 12 has an end of square or other non-circular form which is received in a corresponding aperture in the bearing cap 13, or the cable end may be secured within the bearing cap 13 by clamping. The outer sheath 10 of the drive is secured within the bore by a clamping sleeve 11.
