摘要 A liquid crystal display device of an in-plane switching mode and a method for manufacturing the same are provided to enhance luminance and contrast performance by removing an opaque metal pattern. An upper substrate(200) and a lower substrate(100) are opposite to each other. A gate line(110) and a data line(130) are formed on the lower substrate in order to define a pixel region. A thin film transistor is disposed within the pixel region of the lower substrate in order to include a gate electrode(111), a semiconductor layer(120) and source/drain electrodes(131,132). One or more common electrodes(151) and pixel electrodes(161) are disposed in parallel to the data line within the pixel region of the lower substrate in order to form in-plane electric field. A liquid crystal layer(300) is formed between the upper substrate and the lower substrate. The common electrodes are formed with a transparent conductive material. The gate line and the gate electrode are formed with a transparent pattern formed on the same plane as the plane of the common electrodes and an opaque metal pattern.
