A method for processing a digital image by setting an area is provided to select or move an area freely by using a joystick or a four-directional key button included in a digital image processing device. A window is displayed in order to set a predetermined area. The size and the position of the window are adjusted and stored by a predetermined key input signal. The exposure and the focus for video data in the window are adjusted if the first shutter signal for the video is input. The second shutter signal is input if the exposure and the focus are completely adjusted so that the image is photographed and stored. The size and the position of the window are adjusted by a joystick and a directional key. The exposure or the focus for the image data in the window is readjusted with a predetermined value.
