An anode active material is provided to inhibit a change in its volume and to prevent deterioration of an anode, thereby imparting improved cycle characteristics to a battery. An anode active material comprises: metal active material particles; fibrous metal particles; and a carbonaceous material for coating and binding the metal active material particles and the fibrous metal particles. The fibrous metal particle has an aspect ratio of 1:2-1:200, a resistivity of 20X10^-3 ohm.m and a diameter of 1000 nm or less. The metal active material particle comprises at least one metal selected from the group consisting of Si, Sn, Al, Ge, Pb, Bi, Sb and alloys thereof. |
