An apparatus for testing a fluorescent lamp is provided to automatically test the number of lamps by using a lighting unit for inducing plasma in a gas filled in the lamp to turn on the lamp. A test table(100) has a base surface(110) and a conductive plate(140) placed on the base surface. A lighting unit(300) is positioned at one side of the test table to turn on a lamp(200) by inducing plasma in gas filled in the lamp via the conductive plate, and the test table is inclined so that the lamp is slid. The test table is provided with left and right walls for guiding the sliding lamp, and a support(150) for supporting the lamp. The lighting unit consists of a noise filter, a first rectifying and equalizing unit, a power amplifier, a second rectifying and equalizing unit, an inverter, and first and second switching controlling units.
