A system and a method for checking an underwater structure are provided to maintain the underwater structure by automatically displaying a position of the underwater structure on a coordinate of a drawing. A system for checking an underwater structure includes a sound wave transmission unit(100), a sonar unit(200), and a position display unit(300). The sound wave transmission unit(100) outputs a sound wave having a predetermined frequency band underwater. The sonar unit(200) has a plurality of sound wave receiving units(100), which are installed on the underwater structure and receive the sound wave, a measuring unit which measures position information related to a position of the sound wave transmission unit(100), and an electric wave transmission unit which outputs an electric wave corresponding to the position information. The position display unit(300) calculates a sound wave output position of the sound wave transmission unit(100) based on the position of the sound wave receiving unit(100), the position information included in the electric wave received from the sonar unit(200), receiving time of the electric wave received from the sonar unit(200) and sound wave output time of the sound wave transmission unit(100). The position display unit(300) amends a part corresponding to the sound wave output position into a predetermined shape on a predetermined drawing of the underwater structure. The position display unit(300) displays the drawing of the amended underwater structure.
