A method for preparing nanoparticles of metal, metal alloy, metal oxide, and multimetal oxide is provided to be a simple, inexpensive, non-toxic, and environment-friendly process and mass-produce highly crystalline monodisperse nanoparticles. A method for preparing nanoparticles of metal, metal alloy, metal oxide, and multimetal oxide includes the steps of: (i) reacting an alkali metal salt of C4-25 carboxylate dissolved in a first solvent selected from the group consisting of C5-10 aliphatic hydrocarbons and C6-10 aromatic hydrocarbons, with a metal salt dissolved in water to form a metal carboxylate complex; and (ii) heating the metal carboxylate complex dissolved in a second solvent selected from the group consisting of C6-25 aromatic compounds, C6-25 ethers, C6-25 aliphatic hydrocarbons, and C6-25 amines to produce the nanoparticles. |
