METHOD OF CARRYING OUT ECAP AT ROOM TEMPERATURE FOR MAGNESIUM MATERIALS

A method of carrying out ECAP(Equal Channel Angular Process) of magnesium materials is provided to conduct an ECAP(equal channel angular process) of magnesium materials even at room temperature. A method of carrying out ECAP(Equal Channel Angular Process) of a magnesium material at room temperature comprises the following steps of: preheating the magnesium material to a temperature of 300 to 340 deg.C; extruding the preheated magnesium material; heat-treating the extruded magnesium material at 350 to 450 deg.C; and performing the ECAP of the heat-treated magnesium material at the room temperature. The magnesium material is extruded at an extrusion ratio of 15:1 to 30:1. The heat treatment process is conducted in an atmosphere of an inert gas such as argon, helium or nitrogen for 20 to 28 hours. The ECAP process is performed at an intersection angle of 120 to 150 degrees at which two channels intersect with each other. The ECAP process is performed at 45 to 60 degrees of a curvature angle of channels. The ECAP process is performed one to four times.
