The device has an imager (3) for spatially modulating radiation to be projected for generating an image, and another imager (6) for spatially modulating the image for generating another image, where the imagers are formed by modulable optic valves e.g. liquid crystal on silicon valves. A dyson catadioptric relay system (4) is intercalated between the imagers and is adapted to relay the former image on the latter imager. The system has a mirror (44) comprising a concave spherical reflective surface.
