A protecting device for a street lamp post is provided to fasten the protecting device firmly and quickly by using a locking unit, to prevent deformation by distributing and absorbing expansion or contraction of a protection member, and to restrict separation and breakage by increasing fastening force of the protection member. A protecting device includes a protection member(10), an installation member(40), and a locking unit(60). The protection member has plural projections, grooves, fastening grooves and fastening projections, and insulates a street lamp post. The protection member is mounted to the street lamp post by the installation member, and the installation member is fastened to the protection member by a screw. The installation member has plural bodies(41) regulating the protection members, a hinge(42) connecting the bodies, and a clamp(44) assembling and disassembling the bodies. The body of the installation member is fastened firmly to the street lamp post by holding the outer periphery of the street lamp post with the locking unit. The locking unit has a support piece protruded in the body and contacted to the street lamp post, and a belt holding the outer periphery of the street lamp post.
