<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for economically producing mumefural, by which a problem that it is difficult to obtain the mumefural in a larger amount than about 0.03 to 1.04% even in an optimal condition can be solved, while the mumefural is contained in an amount of about 0.03 to 1.04% in plum flesh extracts, and the mumefural is furthermore obtained in a large amount from the plum flesh extracts. <P>SOLUTION: This method for simply and stably producing the mumefural comprises diluting plum flesh extract with a 5 to 50-fold amount of water, removing insolubles, adsorbing the mumefural in the left solution by a column method or batch method using activated carbon, reheating the non-adsorbed solution to give a sugar content of 80 Brix, or adsorbing the mumefural in the left solution by a column method or batch method using HP-20, and reheating the non-adsorbed solution to give a sugar content of 80 Brix.
