PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ceramics roller including a shaft core made of metal and a cylindrical layer formed from porous ceramics around the circumference of the shaft core, the ceramics roller being designed so as to prevent the cylindrical layer from cracking even when heated to a temperature higher than 200°C, and also to provide a manufacturing method for the ceramics roller. SOLUTION: The ceramics roller is used in the heat fixing device of an electrophotographic apparatus that uses a charged image. The ceramics roller comprises: the shaft core made of metal; and the cylindrical layer formed from ceramics around the circumference of the shaft core, the ceramics containing inorganic fiber. The cylindrical layer is compressed and fixed along the length of the shaft core. In addition, the inorganic fiber is oriented perpendicular to the length of the shaft core.
