The invention comprises compounds of formula <FORM:0919908/IV (b)/1> where A is a carbon chain of preferably 2 or 3 atoms which may also be part of a carbocyclic ring system or wherein one carbon atom may be replaced by a hetero atom, X is oxygen or sulphur, R1 is an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aromatic radical, which may be substituted, e.g. by halogen, alkoxy or alkylmercapto, and R2 is C1-4 alkyl. They may be prepared by reacting cyclic oximides or alkali metal salts thereof with phosphonochloridate or phosphonochloridothioate esters. The products are insecticides.ALSO:Insecticidal compositions comprise phosphonic and thiophosphonic esters of formula <FORM:0919908/VI/1> where A is a carbon chain of preferably 2 or 3 atoms which may also be part of a carbocyclic ring system or wherein one carbon atom may be replaced by a hetero atom, X is oxygen or sulphur, R1 is an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aromatic radical which may contain substituents, e.g. halogen, alkoxy or alkylmercapto, and R2 is C1-4 alkyl, together with a solid or liquid carrier with or without an emulsifier. Specified carriers are talc, chalk, clay, bentonite, ethanol, methanol, aliphatic ketones, dimethyl formamide and chlorinated hydrocarbons. |
