<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a holographic recording composition with which a high sensitivity holographic optical recording medium can be produced and an optical recording medium using the holographic recording composition. <P>SOLUTION: The holographic recording composition includes an imine compound of ≥11 in pKa in water of 25°C and an acidic compound of <11 in pKa in the water of 25°C. The embodiment that the imine compound is expressed by general formula (1) is more preferable. In the general formula (1), R<SP>1</SP>, R<SP>2</SP>, and R<SP>3</SP>may be the same or different from each other and denote any of an alkyl group, an aryl group, an amino group, and an acyl group.
