PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a film speaker that has improved conversion efficiency, has improved linearity in response to input, and has less sound distortions. SOLUTION: In the film speaker 10, a bias electrode 12 and a drive electrode 13 are formed on a thin film 11, and the thin film 11 is formed zigzag so that the bias and drive electrodes 12, 13 face each other in parallel via an air layer. The peaks and troughs of the zigzag thin film 11 are fixed by stationary plates 15, 16, respectively. A prescribed bias voltage is given to the bias electrode 12. By the Coulombic force between the drive and bias electrodes 13, 12 based on a drive voltage corresponding to an audio signal applied to the drive electrode 13, an air layer existing at the space is pushed out and pulled back between the bias and drive electrodes 12, 13, thus generating air vibration and hence the sound waves.
