PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing the liquid fuel base material, attaining high selectivity of an intermediate fraction and sufficiently lowering pour point of the intermediate fraction when carrying out isomerization treatment of a normal paraffin-based hydrocarbon. SOLUTION: The method for producing the liquid fuel base material comprises bringing a catalyst having a laumontite structure in which≥20% of ion exchange site is substituted with proton into contact with a normal paraffin-based hydrocarbon to carry out isomerization treatment.
