The device has a central logic element (1) e.g. carbon dioxide switch key, by which a carbon dioxide discharge-reducing program is arbitrarily switched on and off by a driver. A transmitting unit transmits information over a switching state of the central logic element to an internal-combustion engine controller (2), transmission controller (3), climate controller (4) or body electronics controller (5). Preset control measures for reducing the carbon dioxide discharge are implemented with determined switched-on switching state of the central logic element.
