<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of forming a high-quality image by reducing color shift or image blur accompanied with temperature rise in the apparatus while avoiding the cost increase and the increased scale of the apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The surface state of an intermediate transfer belt 31 is detected in predetermined sampling cycles by using a CMOS sensor 602A, and a sampling image is generated. A surface image (reference image and shifted surface image) on the intermediate transfer belt 31 formed previously on the basis of the sampling image is compared with the sampling image so as to calculate the relative speed and the meandering amount of the intermediate transfer belt 31. Then, by controlling the rotation of an intermediate transfer belt driving motor 56 so that the calculated relative speed becomes 0, servo control is performed. By driving and controlling a steering motor 81 so that the calculated meandering amount of the intermediate transfer belt 31 lies within a predetermined range, the position of the intermediate transfer belt 31 in a meandering direction is adjusted. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT |
