PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protective structure and its construction method, superior in workability of a trough side expansion part. SOLUTION: A rock shed R is formed by supporting both sides of a roof 3 covering a road 110 being a protective object along a crest Y by a wall body 6 and a column 5. A foundation of the column 5 is a plurality of foundation piles 21 erected in the road length direction to a trough side inclined face 103, and a receiving beam 22 is arranged between these foundation piles 21, and a floor slab 11 is arranged between this receiving beam 22 and a crest side foundation 10. Thus, the trough side of the floor slab 11 becomes an expansion part 110K of the road 110, and since its floor slab 11 is supported on the trough side by the foundation piles 21, a structure is improved, and workability is improved without requiring to backfill a lower part of the expansion part 110 K.
