PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switch input device and an input determination control method that allow the operator to recognize abnormality upon its occurrence in any of a plurality of contacts of a switch, and that provide high reliability in operation. SOLUTION: In the switch input device that includes a switch having a plurality of contacts (e.g., two contacts) and outputting an on-signal from each of the contacts in response to a starting operation, if the two contacts have turned into the on state from the off state, the start-up of the switch is determined in a predetermined first time period (S101-S105), and, if only one of the switches is normally operating, the start-up status of the switch is determined in a second time period longer than a normal case (S106-S108). As a result, if any of the contacts has an abnormality, the operator can recognize a delay in start-up of the switch. Furthermore, a correct determination is possible even when abnormality occurs in any of the contacts during operation. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
