PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing an electrophotographic toner which is good in fogging property, image quality and durability, and also to provide a toner manufactured by the method. SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing the electrophotographic toner comprises steps of: mixing materials including a binder resin, a colorant, a release agent and a charge control agent; melt-kneading the material mixture; pulverizing a kneaded product after solidification by cooling; and classifying pulverized powder, wherein before the mixing step, the release agent and/or the charge control agent is granulated.
